Day 7 - 21st June, 2017

Good evening everyone! Today I spoke to my mother as well as mother in law. Both are waiting for their grand-kids! Children are the beautiful creation of the Almighty. So innocent, cute and naughty at the same time. They teach us many things like, be happy without any reason. Being active all the time and being busy, keep doing something. Consistency is the key to success. When they try to start walking they fall, but then, again they stand up and learn walking.

      Yesterday, Hizwer sent me a recipe when I told her that I like South Indian chutneys a lot. Actually, I am a big foodie. I'd love to try different cuisines. I would like to share the recipe Hizwer sent to me. The name of the recipe is Saravana Bhavan Style Kara Chutney.

Prep time: 10 minutes
Cooking Time: 30 minutes

Ingredients required:

Onion - 1/4 cup finely chopped
Tomato - 1/2 cup roughly chopped
Dry red chilli - 3
Whole udad dal - 1 tbsp
Chana dal - 1 tbsp
Garlic - 4 cloves skin peeled and chopped roughly
Salt - to taste
Water - as required

To Temper:
Oil - 1 tbsp
Mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp
Urad dal - 1/4 tsp
curry leaves - a small sprig

Method:

1. Add a drop of oil in a pan, roast udad dal, chana dal along with red chillies till golden. Set aside to cool. In the same pan, add onion, garlic and saute till onion turns transparent.

2. White its getting sauted, soak roasted red chillies in hot water. Once onion turns slightly golden, then add tomato and saute till mushy and raw small leaves completely.

3. Cool down and transfer everything to a mixer and grind it along with little water to a chutney consistency. Don't grind it too fine, let it be coarse. Add salt and mix well.

4. In a tadka pan, heat oil and add the items listed under 'to temper' and let it splutter. Add this tadka to the chutney you just made.

You can serve this chutney with idli, dosa or uttapam.
